The cast of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK SE2 are lighting up the singles charts once again.
The United Kingdolls’ version of ‘UK, Hun?‘ – which they performed on last week’s Ruruvision-themed episode of the show – is currently sitting pretty at number one on the iTunes chart.
Bing, bang, bong indeed!
Still, the band – comprised of Tayce, Bimini Bon-Boulash, Lawrence Chaney and A’Whora – have a little way to go to score the overall number single of the week.
According to the Official Charts Company, the track was at number 25 as of yesterday.
“‘UK Hun?’ is sitting among brand-new releases from Dua Lipa, Rita Ora”
Rob Copsey, Editor of OfficialCharts.com told Attitude: “The fact that ‘UK Hun?’ is sitting among brand-new releases from Dua Lipa, Rita Ora and Headie One on the midweek Official Chart Top 40 just proves how essential pop music of the fun and ridiculous kind is to many of us right now. Bing bang bong, sing sang song…what we were talking about again? Oh yes, thank you for brightening up lockdown United Kingdolls – ‘UK Hun?’ for Eurovision proper please!”
The girls are also facing stiff competition from Taylor Swift’s re-recorded version of ‘Love Story’ and Lil Tjay & 6LACK’s ‘Calling My Phone’, which are gunning for pole position this week.
Strangely, one competitor not posing much of a threat is RPDR UK SE2’s dual girl band Bananadrama. At the time of writing, their version of ‘UK, Hun?’ was only at number 264 on the iTunes chart – although it was no doubt higher after its initial release last week.
“Keep streaming!”
Reacting to the news, Bimini said on Twitter yesterday: “United Kingdolls are back at number 1 on iTunes!!!! Keep streaming/buying/gifting the track!”
TV star and friend of RPDR UK Lorraine Kelly meanwhile backed calls for the song to make it to Eurovision, today tweeting Lawrence: “I cannot get your song out of my head! It HAS to be our Eurovision entry this year or what’s the point !!!”
