Rihanna’s new album finally has artwork and a title

By Nick Bond

Well, it’s been 1053 days since the last Rihanna album (thanks, Popjustice, for keeping count), but now we finally have some news about #R8, in the form of the album’s title and artwork.

Rihanna unveiled the artwork for ‘Anti’ at a gallery exhibition in Los Angeles last night – and apparently it’s ‘changed the history of album art’. Take a look:

There’s no word on a track listing yet, and when it comes to a release date, Ri-Ri won’t be more specific than offering the dreaded ‘SOON’ (MKS vibes). But this is something, right Rihanna fans?

After churning out an album a year for the better part of the last decade, Rihanna’s #R8 album campaign has been oddly protracted, starting strongly with the worldwide smash FourFiveSeconds back in January of this year, then faltering with minor hit Bitch Better Have My Money (UK no. 27) and follow-up single American Oxygen, which didn’t trouble the top 40 here or in the US. No word yet if all – or indeed any – of these songs will make it onto Anti.

Last month we brought you the news that Rihanna had turned down the opportunity to record what turned out to be one of the biggest worldwide hits of 2015 – we can’t wait to hear what she’s been cooking up instead on ‘Anti’.
