Renée Zellweger dedicates Best Actress BAFTA Award to Judy Garland – WATCH
The former Attitude cover star's clean sweep of awards continues.

Renée Zellweger continued her unbroken run of awards wins after taking home the Best Actress prize for Judy at the BAFTAs on Sunday (2 February).
The former Attitude cover star, who’se been cleaning up this awards season for her titular role in the acclaimed Judy Garland biopic, ensured a BAFTA will now sit alongside her Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild awards.
Zellweger, who beat Scarlett Johansson, Saoirse Ronan, Charlize Theron and Judy co-star Jessie Buckley to take home the coveted Best Actress gong, dedicated her award to Garland, who died in London in 1969 at the age of 47.
“Ms. Garland, London town, which you have always loved so much, loves you back”, she told the audience the the Royal Albert Hall.

Zellweger, who opened up about gay icon Garland’s relationship with the LGBTQ community in an Attitude cover interview last year (which you can read in full here) will attempt to continue her clean sweep of awards at the Oscars next Sunday (9 February), where she is also up for Best Actress.
Zellweger’s BAFTA acceptance speech was followed by an appearance by her Bridget Jones’s Diary co-star Hugh Grant, who took to the stage to present the next award.

The actor drew laughs as he quoted his character from the film, Daniel Cleaver, saying: “Thank you Jones. That was a very, very silly little dress.”

Sam Mendes war movie 1917 was the big winner at the BAFTAs, taking home seven awards, while Rocketman star Taron Egerton lost out in the Best Actor category to Joker’s Joaquin Phoenix.
