Professor Green says Blur’s Alex James offered him oral sex

By Will Stroude

Professor Green covers a lot of ground in his new autobiography, Lucky, about his upbringing in Hackney and rise to stardom – but manages to find space for one of the year’s most surprising celebrity anecdotes: that Blur bassist Alex James once offered him a blowjob.

The 31-year-old rapper – real name Stephen Manderson – claims that the married musician and journalist offered him oral sex at a party hosted by Jamie Oliver, before walking away “awkwardly” when he laughed off the suggestion.

“It was hard to keep track of all the people I was meeting,” Professor Green writes, in an extract picked up by DigitalSpy. “Sometimes I didn’t realise until a moment had almost passed that it was something I should be filing away in my memory.

“But that’s the way it was. I couldn’t live it and watch it at the same time, not those brief occasions when, say, I might be getting stuck into the whiskey at a do hosted by Jamie Oliver when Blur’s Alex James offered, in an otherwise normal conversation, a blowjob.

“I laughed and said, ‘Well, depends who it’s from’. He kind of walked away awkwardly. I’m pretty sure he was joking. I hope he was joking.”

Kind of a head-scratcher this one, isn’t it?

While Green is off promoting his new book, James recently reunited with his Blur bandmates for the group’s first studio album in 12 years, The Magic Whip, which hit the top spot on the Official UK Albums Chart on its release in April.
