Patti LaBelle has joined the new season of American Horror Story.

The singer and actress has signed on to appear in four episodes of the FX horror’s upcoming season, which has been given the subtitle Freak Show.

According to TVLine, LaBelle will not sing on the series, and will play a local resident who uncovers the deadly secrets of Twisty the clown killer and the mother of Gabourey Sibide’s character.

Jessica Lange leads the cast of the series once again, playing a German expat managing one of the final freak shows in the 1950s. Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Frances Conroy, Sarah Paulson, Gabourey Sidibe and Evan Peters also feature in the cast.

Well-known US actor John Carroll Lynch recently signed up to play a villain in the series – read more here.
