‘Orange Is the New Black’: Watch first scene from season two
By Sam Rigby
The latest teaser for the second season of Orange Is the New Black has been released.
The first scene from the forthcoming run of episodes is now available to watch online, ahead of the show’s premiere on Netflix in June.
Based on a memoir by Piper Kerman, Orange Is the New Black centres on a middle-class New York woman called Piper Chapman, now engaged to a man, who is given 15 months’ jail time after her former girlfriend, an international drug smuggler, grasses her up for transporting a suitcase full of drug money ten years previously.
The newly-released scene sees Piper slowly losing her mind in solitary confinement following the events of last season, which saw her attack Tiffany ‘Pennsatucky’ Doggett in self-defense.
Taylor Schilling stars as the not always sympathetic Piper, while Laura Prepon co-stars as Alex Vause, the former girlfriend who betrayed her and is now serving time in the same prison.
The supporting cast includes Taryn Manning as an inmate with a strong belief in God, Kate Mulgrew as a red-haired Russian prisoner who rules the roost, and Jason Biggs as Piper’s fiancé.
Netflix will make all 13 season two episodes available to stream on June 6. Watch first scene below:
