‘Orange Is the New Black’ cast wish Manchester ‘Happy Pride!’

OITNB MANC PRIDEThree of the stars of Orange Is the New Black have recorded a message of support ahead of Manchester Pride next weekend (August 22-25).

Actresses Taylor Schilling (Piper), Laura Prepon (Alex) and Danielle Brooks (Taystee) have filmed a special video encouraging people to “celebrate and embrace your love” at this year’s event.

“Happy Manchester Pride!” adds Laura Prepon, before Danielle tells everyone to “turn it up!”

Earlier today, (August 11), it was confirmed that one of the show’s stars – Lea DeLaria – will serve as the event’s Grand Marshal.

The actress – who plays Big Boo on the acclaimed Netflix series – will lead this year’s parade through Manchester city centre – click here to find out more.

Manchester Pride’s Big Weekend takes place over the bank holiday weekend (August 22-25), and will see performances from Anastacia, Pixie Lott, All Saints and more. Find out who else is on the line-up here.

The free parade is due to set off at 1pm on Saturday August 23 and will run from Liverpool Road to the end of Whitworth Street – right by Manchester’s gay village. For more information visit the Manchester Pride website.
