Olly Alexander, Paris Lees & Princess Julia sit down for Dinner with Attitude

By Will Stroude

He was the pop prince of 2015, and with his chart-topping hits, cheeky smile and refreshing candour about everything from his sexuality to his mental health, Years & Years frontman Olly Alexander rocketed straight into all our hearts last year, becoming one of the most visible and outspoken faces in the LGBT community. So naturally, for the inaugural episode of ‘Dinner with Attitude’, there was only one man to go to.

We sat down the with Olly in London’s gorgeous Hoi Polloi restaurant alongside some of the UK’s biggest movers and shakers: co-creator of London’s queer extravaganza Sink The Pink, Glyn Fussell (who kindly hosted proceedings), legendary DJ, writer and LGBT icon Princess Julia, and trans activist and Attitude Editor-at-Large Paris Lees, for an evening of fun, frivolity and real talk about modern gay life.

From Olly revealing what it’s like going back to his small hometown – a place where he was viscously teased and bullied for being different – as a famous and very openly gay man, to discussing what the future holds for both themselves and the LGBT community, the gang offer a thought-provoking insight into where we are, and where we’re headed next.

Watch Dinner with Attitude in its entirety below – bon appétit!

Remember you can still get your hands on the Attitude’s January Issue, featuring our exclusive 10-page shoot and interview with Olly Alexander, as a digital download from pocketmags.com/attitude.
