Nick Grimshaw reveals why he quit The X Factor

By Ben Kelly

Nick Grimshaw has revealed he quit The X Factor because it was “too much work”.

Speaking to the Daily Star, the 31-year-old DJ said he was doing 18 hour days as he struggled to host his Radio 1 breakfast show, and then work on the ITV talent show for the rest of the day.

“I love going to work and I like to be busy,” he said. “But doing X Factor and the radio was work all the time.”

“I was doing the show in the morning and then working on X Factor from midday to midnight. It was every day.”

He also confirmed that he did indeed quit the show, rather than being given the axe by show boss Simon Cowell.

“There hadn’t been any discussions when I made my decision. So I thought before there were months of speculation over who was going to be back, I’d say I didn’t want to and get it out of the way. Once I decided, I decided and that was it.”

“I will miss X Factor but I don’t regret my decision to go,” he said. He also hinted that he may well fancy doing some more on screen work in the future, saying, “X Factor hasn’t put me off TV at all.”
