Miranda Hart is calling time on her hit self-titled sitcom.

Hart, 41, has revealed that the popular comedy series will end with two Christmas specials set to air on BBC One over the festive season.

“I’m actually coming to the end of the whole sitcom,” Hart told Steve Wright on his Radio 2 show earlier this week. “I’m doing two Christmas specials, but they are going to be the finale of the show, full stop.”

“People have loved the character, which is so nice and amazing for me,” she continued. “But as she gets older I don’t want her to keep falling over and make a complete fool of herself.”

Hart went on to explain that it felt “like the right time to end it”, before adding that she wants the show to “go out on a high”.

Miranda debuted on BBC Two in 2009 and ran for two series on the channel, before moving to BBC One for its third series in late 2012.
