MIKA releases fifth studio album ‘My Name Is Michael Holbrook’

The BRIT Award-winning singer is back.

More than a decade after he first burst into the charts with the inimitable ‘Grace Kelly’, MIKA is back with his fifth studio album – and he’s sounding more self-assured than ever.

The BRIT Award-winning singer, 36, released his latest record I Am Michael Holbrook today (4 October) after treating fans to more of his energetic ’80s-inspired synthpop in the form of singles ‘Ice Cream’ and ‘Tiny Love’ earlier this year.

The album is MIKA’s first full-length record since 2015’s No Place in Heaven, and the Beirut-born Brit says he initially struggled with inspiration for the next chapter in his musical career.

“I hadn’t put out a record in four years. I didn’t know what to do when it came time to start the process and was honestly kind of at a loss,” MIKA says.

“I felt a little disappointed by the commercial side of the industry. I didn’t want to make a record by numbers or by committee. I wanted to make an uncontaminated, homemade pop record.”

MIKA, who has appeared as a judge on The X Factor Italy and The Voice France in recent years, is set to return to London next month to play a show at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire, before embarking on a Europe-wide series of shows as part of his not-so-tiny ‘Tiny Love Tiny Tour’.
