Michelle Collins swaps ‘Coronation Street’ for ‘Casualty’

Stella-Price

Michelle Collins will be joining the cast of Casualty later this year.

The actress is currently appearing in Coronation Street as former Rovers landlady Stella Price, but is leaving the ITV soap next month (April).

Speaking to The Sun about her exit, the actress said: “I’m pleased to be out of a soap for now. I have more time to be a mum and I’m going into Casualty as a key character’s love interest.”It is only for a few weeks, which is perfect.”

Collins will play the love interest of Jeff (Matt Bardock), one of the paramedics on the BBC One medical show.

The 51-year-old actress has been a member of the Corrie cast since June 2011, and immediately attracted attention for her unique interpretation of a Northern accent.  At the end of last year she expressed disappointment with her character’s lack of story lines on the soap, tweeting: “I m (sic) sorry but Stella’s become a bit of a minor character now it’s a shame I know !!”

Collins has previously appeared in numerous TV shows including EastEnders, Two Thousand Acres of Sky and the short-lived Rock Rivals.
