By Will Stroude

Mariah Carey has honoured the late George Michael with an emotional performance of one of the his most beloved songs.

The singer sang a heartfelt of Michael’s chart-topping ballad ‘One More Try’ from his 1987 debut album Faith at the Dubai Jazz Festival on Friday night (March 31).

Carey, who recorded a cover of the track for her 2014 album Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse, told the audience: “I always loved it, I always loved him. He was a really great person. So we’ll make it through this.”

Michael, who died from heart and liver failure on Christmas Day at the age of 53, was finally laid to rest in a private family ceremony in London last week.

Back in 2014, the The musical icon gave Carey’s cover his seal of approval, calling it an “honour” for his work to be covered by the Glitter star.

“Thank u for recording One more try,” George said on Twitter at the time. “Such an honour 2 have one of the best voices in the world singing my song.”
