Madonna’s early years to be charted in new biopic ‘Blond Ambition’

Gay Christmas has officially come early this year with the news that a new Madonna biopic is in the works.
The legendary star’s rise from unknown dancer to the undisputed Queen of Pop is set to be charted in a new film by Universal Studios, the Hollywood Reporter revealed on Monday (April 24).
Set in New York in the early ’80s, Blond Ambition will follow Madonna Louise Ciccone as she works on her debut album, 1983’s Madonna, and navigates a notirously sexist industry while juggling her personal life and the early pressures of fame.
The much-hyped script is written by Elyse Hollander, while producers Michael De Luca (Fifty Shades of Grey) and Brett Ratner (Prison Break) are also attached to the project.
Born in Michigan in 1958, Madonna moved to New York City in 1978, where she worked as a back-up singer and dancer before landed a record deal with Sire Records.
She would go on to sell over 300 million records and become the best-selling female recording artist of all time.
Of her move to New York, Madonna famously said: “It was the first time I’d ever taken a plane, the first time I’d ever gotten a taxi cab. I came here with $35 in my pocket. It was the bravest thing I’d ever done.”
There’s no word yet on who’ll be playing Madge, but we’re already working on our dream shortlist. No doubt the lady herself will have something to say on the matter, too – if she’s not calling dibs on the role herself, that is.
