London Underground singer Charlotte Awbery is releasing a single

The viral star is finally getting her big break.

Charlotte Awbery, the Essex singer who went viral last month after footage of her nailing Lady Gaga’s ‘Shallow’ on the London Underground was posted online, is set to capitalise on her new global fame by releasing her very own single.

Awbery, whose participation in a ‘Finish the lyrics’ YouTube challenge racked up millions of views in just a matter of days, confirmed the news as she appeared on ITV’s Lorraine this morning (2 March), just days after she delivered a stunning performance on The Ellen Show.

The single, of course, will be a recorded version of ‘Shallow’ – the song that propelled her to viral stardom.

“Everyone’s asking for me to do the cover of it so I’m actually going to be releasing a single of it”, she revealed.

But don’t be under any illusions: Pop’s new queen has plenty of original material to share with the world once the intial buzz surrounding her version of ‘Shallow’ dies down.

“I write all my own stuff”, she said. “Hopefully, fingers crossed, I can start showing people my own music.”
