Fresh off making chart history with ‘Old Town Road – now officially the US Billboard Hot 100 longest-running Number One EVER – Lil Nas X is keeping the momentum going with the glossy video for follow-up single ‘Panini’.
The 20-year-old singer and rapper, whose position as an out gay man straddling hip-hop and country genres is smashing ceilings for LGBTQ artists in the industry, proved he’s no one hit wonder as he dropped the futuristic, big budget video on Thursday (5 September).
Taking visual cues from everything from films like Blade Runner and Minority Report to Avengers, the ‘Panini’ video sees 17-year-old Disney star Skai Jackson living in a futuristic metropolis where there’s no escaping Lil Nas X’s reach.
It’s all delivered with the artist’s trademark wit and charisma, and sets out his stall as a long-term musical prospect as Lil Nas X – real name Montero Hill – steps out from under the shadow of ‘Old Town Road’s phenomenal global success.
