Katie Price has hailed the introduction of equal marriage as a “landmark moment” for England and Wales.

The model-turned-businesswoman, 35, shares her views on same-sex marriage in her latest column for Now magazine.

“I’m pleased that the law has changed and finally same sex couples are able to officially tie the knot and be recognised as married in England and Wales,” she writes.

“When you look back, how absurd was it that people’s love had been divided by law for so long? This new ruling is a landmark moment as only a decade or so ago there was a law banning the “promotion” of homosexuality.”

She then adds: “Finally, the colourful rainbow that we all recognise as symbolising happiness is now a reality for all.”

The first same-sex marriages in England and Wales took place on Saturday, March 29 – click here to watch a video one of the UK’s first gay weddings.

The first same-sex marriages in Scotland will follow later this year, though Northern Ireland has yet to recognise equal marriage.
