By Sam Rigby

Kathy Griffin will reportedly replace the late Joan Rivers as the presenter of Fashion Police.

The actress and comedienne is negotiating a deal with the show’s network E! to appear on the series when it returns in January 2015, according to the Daily Mail.

Griffin was a close friend of Rivers, who passed away earlier this month at the age of 81 – read more here.

A source said: “Kathy has been told if she wants the gig she can have it because Melissa wanted someone who her mother would have approved of. Kathy will probably take the position but they are still working out the deal.”

Fashion Police premiered in 2010 and has gone on to become a major ratings success. In 2012, it was extended from a 30-minute to a 60-minute programme.

The show also features co-hosts Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne and George Kotsiopoulos, as well as celebrity guests.
