Jonathan Bailey is probably ‘Dancing Through Life’ as he joins the cast of the Wicked movies as the dashing Prince Fiyero.

The news was confirmed on Wednesday (21 September) by the film’s director, Jon M. Chu on Twitter.

“He’s perfect, they’re perfect. They’d be perfect together. Born to be forever….. I am too excited to pretend this hasn’t been happening. We have a Fiyero!!!! #JonathanBailey #Wicked,” Chu tweeted.

After showing off his musical chops in The Last Five Years and Company, Bailey is no doubt the right fit for the part.

He won an Olivier Award for the latter role.

Similarly to his new director, Jonathan posted about the news by referencing his character’s song, ‘Dancing Through Life’.

Posting a series of holiday snaps on Instagram on Wednesday the actor said, “Dancing through. 🇨🇦 💚”

We can expect Jonathan to be lighting up the most swankified place in town at Christmas 2024, with the second part due out a year later.

The Bridgerton heartthrob joins previously announced Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande (Elphaba and Glinda respectively)

Wicked tells the story of Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz, and how she became the iconic villainess.

The musical’s original composer, Stephen Schwartz, is adapting the screenplay with the show’s original book writer, Winnie Holzman.

As well as filming for Bridgerton‘s third season, the actor has recently been announced as Matt Bomer’s love interest in Fellow Travelers.

He will also star opposite Felicity Jones in the comedy, Maria.

Furthermore, Jonathan is commonly cited as a favourite to take over the role of James Bond following Daniel Craig’s exit from the role.

The Attitude September/October issue is out now.
