John Barrowman calls for Dancing on Ice fans to be ‘supportive’ of the same-sex pairing.

The ITV ice skating competition revealed last week that they will be pairing two male dancers together for the first time in the show’s history.

Steps star Ian ‘H’ Watkins and professional dancer Matt Evers will be taking to the ice to dance together when the show returns this winter.

However, the decision by ITV bosses faced criticism from fans of the show and now John Barrowman, who will be judging the show, has called for people to be ‘supportive’ of the decision.

While speaking on This Morning today (October 16), John said: “I think it’s amazing, and congratulations to Dancing on Ice and ITV for being the first in the UK to have same-sex partners.

“I don’t know if it’s around the world but I’m pretty sure it probably is.

“I think one thing we have to do is sit back a little bit, because I follow stuff online and there’s been a little controversy over, ‘Why’s it two men, why’s it this, why’s it that?’

“You know what, it’s a same-sex partnership. It’s the first. Let’s do it this way. Be supportive as a community.

“The LGBTQ community, everybody else, let’s be supportive of this and let’s see how they do, let’s see if they’re gonna be good.”
