Jennifer Lopez and Shakira will re-inject some much-needed sass into the Super Bowl when they headine the halftime show of possibly the world’s most-watched sporting fixture next February.

After a couple of years which have seen the likes of Justin Timberlake, Maroon 5 and Travis Scott take the coveted musical slot, the two musical superstars with sashay into Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium during the Super Bowl LIV on 2 February 2020.

Lopez, 50, said in a statement she “couldn’t wait to show what us girls can do on the world’s biggest stage”, while Colombian queen Shakira, 42, described the opportunity as “a true American dream”.

“It doesn’t get any bigger than this!” the ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ singer wrote on Instagram as the news broke on Thursday (26 September).

“So excited about getting on that #SuperBowlLIV #PepsiHalftime stage!”

The announcement sees J-Lo and Shakira join an elite group of artists who have headlined the Super Bowl halftime show, with performers over the last decade including the Black Eyed Peas, Madonna, Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Coldplay and Lady Gaga.

The most-watched Super Bowl halfttime show of all time remains Perry’s 2015 set, which saw 120.7 million viewers tune in to catch the questionable moves of that left shark.

For now though, it’s time to start creating those dream J-Lo-Shakira setlists. The ‘Get Right’ dance breakdown has gotta be a shoe-in, right?
