Jaden Smith talks wearing women’s clothing: ‘They’re just clothes’

By Josh Haggis

Teen star Jaden Smith has spoken out against the gender labels society attaches to certain types of clothing.

The 16-year-old son of Fresh Prince of Bel Air actor Will Smith took to Instagram last week to share a picture of himself wearing a dress he had recently purchased from TopShop.

Alongside the image, Smith added the caption: “Went to TopShop to buy Girl Clothes, I mean ‘Clothes.'”

Days later in a Twitter post, he once again challenged gender norms when he told fans that he was wearing the dress with no trousers underneath:

Smith’s fashion choice received a wave of negative comments on social media, with some critics labelling the star a “faggot” and others suggesting that he “just wants attention”.
