Iggy Azalea hits out at lack of ‘Pretty Girls’ promotion

By Will Stroude

Iggy Azalea has hit out at the lack of promotion her recent collaboration with Britney Spears received.

The pair’s new single Pretty Girls peaked at Number 16 on the UK Top 40 Singles Chart and 29 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and speaking to fans on Twitter yesterday (June 28), the Aussie rapper put the track’s mediocre chart performance down to a lack of publicity.

Responding to fan who claimed the single had “flopped”, the 25-year-old – who debuted the track alongside Brit at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas last month (May 17) – said that despite getting off to a “powerful start”, artists “need content to compete” in the modern music industry, adding: “Unfortunately I’m just featured.”

It didn’t end there though: After media outlets began picking up on the story, Azalea responded to one which claimed she was shading Britney and her team by saying: “I don’t have to suck the woman’s asshole 24/7 to be her friend, do I?

“Bye girls”.

To be honest, if they re-released the track with that line included as a middle-eight lyric it would go Top 5 FOR SURE.

Meanwhile, Azalea was recently forced to pull out of a planned headline appearance at Pittsburgh Pride after facing a public backlash of her past use of homophobic language – find out more here.
