Harry Styles is set to star in an adaptation of gay romance novel ‘The Policeman’ – we can’t wait to see him twirl his baton…

The chart-topping singer is in negotiations to appear alongside Lily James in the film version of Bethan Roberts’ 2012 bestseller.

Set in 1950s Brighton, England, the book follows a schoolteacher named Marion (James) who falls head over heels for Tom, a handsome policeman played by the oh-so-handsome Styles.

However, sirens sound for Tom when he meets Patrick, a museum curator who opens his eyes to another path in life (aka a very gay one).

Living in a time where homosexuality is illegal, [spoiler alert] Tom marries Marion and his two lovers are forced to share him.

The as-yet-untitled film – snapped up by Amazon Studio – will be directed by Michael Grandage from a script by Oscar-nominated writer Ron Nyswaner (Philadelphia).

Hazza, 26, will next be seen sprinkling his ‘Watermelon Sugar’ on the silver screen in Olivia Wilde’s thriller Don’t Worry Darling, opposite Florence Pugh.

The former One Direction singer made his cinematic debut in Christopher Nolan’s war flick, Dunkirk.

A huge LGBTQ+ ally, Styles has always been refreshingly open about not putting a label on his sexuality.

While promoting 2019 album Fine Album, he told the Guardian: “Am I sprinkling in nuggets of sexual ambiguity to try and be more interesting? No… in terms of how I wanna dress, and what the album sleeve’s gonna be, I tend to make decisions in terms of collaborators I want to work with.”

“I want things to look a certain way. Not because it makes me look gay, or it makes me look straight, or it makes me look bisexual, but because I think it looks cool. And more than that, I dunno, I just think sexuality’s something that’s fun,” Styles added.
