Happy birthday Geri Halliwell! 10 reasons we love her

With news that Geri Halliwell will release new solo music this year (and “it’s wonderful,” says the Spice Girls collaborator who’s working on it with her), we thought now would be a great time to look back at a few reasons why we love The Artist Formerly Known As Ginger Spice.
Doubly so, seeing as today is Halliwell (nee Horner)’s 43rd birthday. Happy birthday Geri! Let us count the reasons we love ya:
1. Look At Me. The song, the video – everything. What a way to launch a solo career:
2. She released one of pop’s best tell-all memoirs, If Only…
…Then released another tell-all memoir just two short years later. For those times when you didn’t tell all you wanted to tell in your first tell-all.
3. She performed this gorgeous, slowed-down solo version of Wannabe… AT HER OWN WEDDING RECEPTION. #girlpower
4. Her brilliantly OTT Bag It Up BRIT Awards performance:
Remember how shocking it was when she emerged from between that giant pair of legs? Now you’ve got Rihanna disembowelling people while performing her own pap smear in her videos. Ahh, the 90s were a simpler time.

Today’s pop stars can’t compete. “What were you doing before you were famous?” “Well I was born, then I enrolled at the BRIT School…that’s it, really.” Geri, on the other hand, did just about everything: TV presenter, nightclub dancer, aerobics instructor, Turkish game show hostess and yes, even glamour model.
7. Because she can talk under water:
Seriously, give this woman her own chat show. No guests – just Geri gabbing on. WE WOULD WATCH.

ACTUAL POP FACT: The energy created by Geri an Kylie lezzing off together was so impossibly camp that it actually created an entirely gay planet in an alternate universe. Geri has a summer house there.
