Gus Kenworthy dressed up as Adam Rippon’s Oscars harness outfit for Halloween

"We finally did each other."

If you follow Gus Kenworthy on Instagram, you’ll know by now that the US Olympic freeskier fully commits to his Halloween costumes – but this year’s effort might be our favourite yet.

Gus, who struck up an adorable friendship with fellow gay Olympian Adam Rippon during the Pyeongchang Games in February, used the spookiest day of the year to mimic his BFF’s headline-grabbing outfit from this year’s Oscars, complete with leather harness and a golden trophy symbol that definitely resembles something other than the iconic statuette.

Declaring the look “Adam Ripoff” as he shared a side-by-side image of the inspired costume on Twitter on Monday (29 October), Gus’s efforts were quickly given a seal of approval by Adam, who picked up the Sport Award supported by Jaguar at the Virgin Holidays Attitude Awards, powered by Jaguar earlier this month.

“We finally did each other”, Adam joked on Twitter, to which Gus replied: “tbh I’ve been wanting to do you since we met…”

Summing up the feelings of a nation, Adam, who became the the first openly gay male US athlete to pick up a Winter Olympic medal in Pyeongchang, quipped: “Feels right.”

Of course, this isn’t the first time Gus and Adam have got a little flirty in public – the bromantic pair raised eyebrows (and possibly more) after locking lips on stage at the GLAAD Awards in April – you can relive that moment here.
