Geri Horner marks 20th anniversary of Wannabe video with Spice Girls throwback pic

It’s been 15 years since the Spice Girls went their separate ways and 20 years ago yesterday (April 19), the girl group filmed the music video for their debut single, Wannabe.

Geri Halliwell took to Instagram yesterday to celebrate by sharing a throwback photo of the group during the filming of the Wannabe music video.

Alongside the photo, Halliwell writes: “20 years ago we shot a video for #wannabe Time flies. I still remember running around in my Mary Quant platforms, the sparkly leotard I bought from Nottinghill market. Awh #younggirlsbigdreams”

The video, released July 1996, followed the girls as they ran through the Midland Grand Hotel in St Pancras, London. The video stayed at number one for thirteen weeks and even caused some controversy in Asia after getting banned for Mel B’s erect nipples!
