actor Kristian Nairn has confirmed that he will not appear in the fantasy drama’s fifth season.

According to the actor, his character Hodor, and Isaac Hempstead-Wright’s character Bran Stark, are on a “year’s hiatus”.

Speaking to Australia’s ABC, he said: “We have a season off and we have a year’s hiatus, solely because I imagine our storyline is up to the end of the books.”

However, Hempstead-Wright has since suggested that he will be returning to Game of Thrones for the new season.

On what he will do with his year off, he added: “I get my year off now to do Rave of Thrones and gallivant all over the world.”

Earlier this year, Nairn came out as gay, saying it is “important to stand up and be counted” – read more here.
