First look at Ricky Martin and Darren Criss in the Versace themed ‘American Crime Story’

By Ross Semple

Fans of American Crime Story have been treated to a first look at the second season, The Assassination of Gianni Versace.

The stars of the show, including Penélope Cruz, Darren Criss, and Ricky Martin, appear on the new edition of Entertainment Weekly. The series looks like it’s going to be quintessential Ryan Murphy, with all the camp and glamour we’ve come to expect – and a lot of Versace fashion thrown in.

The ten-episode miniseries will retell the shocking July 1997 assassination of Gianni Versace on the steps of his Miami Beach mansion by killer Andrew Cunanan.

The Ryan Murphy-produced series is currently filming, and will hit screens in 2018, following the success of The People vs O.J. Simpson last year.

Having previously sharing a revealing snap from the filming of the series, we get a first look at Darren Criss (who will play Cunanan on the series) in full costume.

Versace himself is portrayed by Édgar Ramírez, star of Joy and The Girl on the Train.

Ricky Martin recently confirmed his role on the show as Antonio D’Amico, Versace’s longterm partner.

We’ve already had a brief look at Cruz as Donatella, but these new images show that she is a perfect fit as the platinum blonde designer who took over her brother’s position at Versace after his death.

The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story will hit screens in early 2018. Check out the whole selection of photos at Entertainment Weekly.
