Charli XCX’s candid documentary Charli XCX: Alone Together has received a brand new trailer ahead of its impending UK release.

The ‘Beg For You’ singer’s frank and warm-hearted film charts the making of her fourth studio album how i’m feeling now during 2020’s first COVID-19 lockdown, which was created with the help of Charli’s dedicated online LGBTQ fanbase.

The new UK trailer – which you can watch exclusively on Attitude below – comes ahead of a screening of Charli XCX: Alone Together at BFI Flare: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival on 17 March (tickets are available now here). The doc will also receive a limited release in UK cinemas on 14 April, having premiered in the US on streaming service Hulu earlier this year.

Directed by Bradley Bell and Pablo Jones-Soler, Charli XCX: Alone Together follows Charli during the early weeks of lockdown isolation as she responds to her deteriorating mental health by embarking on a new artistic project; namely, making a new record from scratch in just 40 days.

Taking the unparalleled step of sharing every step of the music-making process online, Charli’s whirlwind journey saw her unite struggling fans across the globe and produce an acclaimed pop album that would go on to be shortlisted for the 2020 Mercury Prize.

Post-lockdown, Charli – whose fifth studio album Crash is set to be released next Friday (18 March) – continues to remain of of pop’s most intriguing and enigmatic stars, recently telling Rolling Stone UK with trademark deadpan humour: “Being a pop icon is very turbulent. The highs are high and the lows are low and the iconic-ness has to stay at such a high level that sometimes you can really get exhausted just from being so, so iconic.”

Charli XCX will be available to stream on BFI Player from 16 March and will be screened at BFI Southbank as part of BFI Flare: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival on 17 March.

Blue Finch Film Releasing presents a nationwide special presentation of Charli XCX: Alone Together in cinemas on 14 April and on digital 18 April.
