Eurovision 2021: Iceland’s Daði Freyr unveils another brilliantly bonkers entry with ’10 Years’
Last year's frontrunner for the title seems to have repeated the trick ahead of Eurovision's return this May.

Before the cancellation of 2020’s Eurovision Song Contest, Iceland’s Daði Frey was looking like a serious contender for the title with his insanely kooky, catchy entry ‘Think About Things’.
The barmy video for the track went viral and even won the support of Hollywood star Russell Crowe, with the song eventually reaching the UK Top 40 last summer despite coronavirus forcing Eurovision organisers to abandon last year’s contest in Rotterdam.
With Eurovision set to return this May, Daði Freyr and his band Gagnamagnið (which translates to ‘The Data’) have been reselected as Iceland’s entry – and though ‘Think About Tings’ is no longer eligible for this year’s competition, 28-year-old Daði appears to have repeated the trick with another madcap song and video combo in the form of ’10 Years’.
The big budget video was unveiled on Monday (29 March) and sees Daði & Gagnamagnið don their infamous cartoon head costumes once again as they’re tasked with saving Iceland from a monster invasion.
Complete with lasers, hovercrafts, giant animatronic robots, and the return of the group’s captivatingly awkward dance moves, it looks like Daði Freyr will be reigniting that 2020 momentum ahead of Eurovision’s return from Tuesday 18 May to Saturday 22 May.
At least half of the 41 countries participating in Eurovision 2021 have chosen to reselect the act due to represent them in 2020, but acts will not be allowed to re-enter with songs they had been due to perform last year before coronavirus saw the show scrapped for the first time in its 64-year history.
Organisers have promised that the event will take place live and in-person in Rotterdam this year, but contestants have already been asked to produce a “live-on-tape” performance ahead of the competition as a back-up in case travel restrictions prevent anyone from reaching Rotterdam.
