Eurovision 2019: UK’s potential entries revealed

Here we go again...

By Will Stroude

With the Eurovision Song Contest a mere four months away, it’s almost time to decide for the Great British public to decide which poor unfortunate soul we’ll be sending to Tel Aviv this May for what we’re just *sure* will end in post-Brexit injection of national pride.

Six acts will be fighting for your vote during Eurovision: You Decide next month, and in a fresh twist, each of the three pre-selected songs will be performed in two different ways, by two different acts.

A celebrity panel and viewers at home will make the final decision when Eurovision: You Decide airs on BBC Two on Friday 8 February – and you can get ahead of the curve below:

‘Bigger Than Us’ sung by Michael Rice

21-year-old Michael won the BBC’s Geri Horner-fronted singing competition All Together Now last year.

‘Bigger Than Us’ sung by Holly Tandy

17-year-old Holly, who competed in Sharon Osborne’s category on The X Factor in 2017, puts acountry spin on ‘Bigger Than Us’.

‘Freaks’ sung by Jordan Clark

Jordan, 24, reached the final of Britain’s Got Talent in 2013 as part of The Luminites.

‘Freaks’ sung by MAID

MAID are made up of Blythe, 24, Miracle, 26, and Kat, 27. Blythe currently works as former Sugababe Jade Ewen’s understudy in the West End production of Aladdin.

‘Sweet Lies’ sung by Kellie-Anne

Former teacher Kellie-Anne, 32, belts out a bonda fide banger with ‘Sweet Lies’, which boasts Lisa Cabble, who wrote the 2013’s winning Danish entry ‘Only Teardrops’, as a writer.

We cannot stress this enough: this needs to win.

‘Sweet Lies’ sung by Anisa

31-year-old Anisa, who was named by BBC Asian Network as one of their 2016 Future Sounds and co-wrote ‘Piano’ for Ariana Grande’s debut album, turns ‘Sweet Lies’ into a soaring ballad.

We’ve certainly got our favourite (#TeamKellieAnne), but who’ll be getting your vote when Eurovision: You Decide airs on BBC Two on 8 February?
