Emma Bunton releases first solo single in 12 years ‘Baby Please Don’t Stop’ – WATCH

Welcome back, Baby.

By Will Stroude

Emma Bunton isn’t hanging about this era: Just two days after announcing her first solo album in more than 12 years, My Happy Place, Baby Spice has already released the first single from record along with a brand spanking new video. An efficent queen.

The summery ‘Baby Please Don’t Stop’ provides another slice of the smooth ’60s-styled radio pop that came to define Emma’s solo sound in the early to mid-noughties.

It’s one of two original tracks on My Happy Place, which includes covers of classic hits and is set to be released on 12 April.

The record has seen Emma team up with stars including Will Young and Josh Kumra for duets including ‘I Only Want To Be With You’ and ‘Come Away With Me’ – and the purveyor of Girl Power has even recorded a new version of the Spice Girls 1996 chart-topper ‘2 Become 1’ with Robbie Williams.

“The reason I called the album My Happy Place is because my happy place is with my family, with my friends, listening to music and being in the studio”, says Emma.

“All those things came together on this album. While recording it my kids came to the studio, my friends came down, my mum listened to every song over and over again. Being in the studio I just feel so happy.

The 43-year-old star goes on: “As you get older you feel more confident because actually your priorities change, and my family have become my focus, but this album is like the icing on the cake.

“Being able to write, record and perform is definitely that extra sprinkle of magic”.
