Elton John and longtime collaborator Bernie Taupin have won the Oscar for Best Original Song for ‘Rocketman’s ‘(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again’.

John, 72, paid tribute to Taupin, husband David Furnish and Rocketman star Taron Egerton as he took home his first Oscar in 25 years at the Academy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday (9 February).

“Thank you to Bernie, who has been the constant thing in my life. When I was screwed up, when I was normal, he was always there for me”, John said.

“David I love you… Taron Egerton – what a performance.”

John, who also performed the Oscar-winning track during Sunday night’s televised ceremony, added: “This is a dream for us”.
