Dolly Parton has offered to adopt a dog which was abandoned at Glastonbury Festival last month (June).

The country diva performed an already-legendary set at the Somerset festival on June 29, and has now pledged to provide a home for the lost dog if the original owners fail to come forward.

Glastonbury workers who found the dog – pictured in this article – named it ‘Dolly’ because the pooch is apparently blessed with Parton’s trademark characteristics of “beauty, love, peace, and sweetness”.

When the press heard about the abandoned dog, and nicknamed the mutt ‘Doggy Parton’, the singer herself was moved to come to its rescue.

“I had my manager Danny Nozell call the Happy Landings Animal Shelter to make sure the dog is being treated and cared for properly,” Parton explained.

“At this time, nobody has claimed the dog and the dog is in great hands at the shelter. I will take the dog home to America if nobody claims her within a reasonable amount of time.”

Parton’s Glastonbury set drew rave reviews and a record crowd of over 100,000 revellers – but the singer was later force to deny claims that she mimed during her performance. Click here for the full story.
