DC Entertainment have cast a trans, deaf, person of colour to play a superhero in the Netflix series Titans.

Season two of the comic book series is set to start shooting next month and we will only have to wait and see what the superheroes including Dick Grayson aka Nightwing, Starfire, Raven and Beast Boy are up against.

It was revealed earlier this year that the DC Comics villain Deathstroke aka Slade Wilson will appear in the upcoming series played by Esai Morales and now it’s reported Wilson’s son Jericho will also appear.

In the comics, Jericho is mute after assassins cut his vocal chords but he possesses the ability to control people by making eye contact. The hero is often seen using sign language to communicate.

And now, Chella Man –  a trans, deaf person of colour – was revealed to have been cast as the role of the hero marking his acting debut.

Man – who identifies as genderqueer and is currently transitioning on testosterone – took to Twitter and wrote: “SECRET’S OUT!

“It is UNREAL to announce I will be making my acting debut as Jericho on Season 2 Titans!

“As a trans, Deaf, Jewish POC, I have always reminded myself of the power in my differences.

“It’s a dream come true as I will now be able to showcase this power on the Titans.

“In the comics, the character has always used sign language, as his vocal cords severed by assassins.

“Jericho’s mysterious powers are activated by his gaze — if he locks eyes with people he can control their bodies.”
