A new trailer for the HBO series, The Idol, has given us a further glimpse at what we can expect from the upcoming series

Lily-Rose Depp stars as a rising pop singer in LA as she dates a Los Angeles club owner and cult leader played by The Weeknd.

A previous trailer showed a brief glance at Troye Sivan’s character but now we can see bit more of the cast including Schitt’s Creek‘s Dan Levy, as well as the trans actor Hari Nef.

Also starring in the series are Jennie Ruby Jane, Suzanna Son, Tunde Adebimpe, Nico Hiraga, Hank Azaria, Jane Adams, and Rachel Sennott.

The brief teaser doesn’t reveal much more than the first, but the cast is clearly glittering with stars and the series looks intense with characters surrounded by drug-fuelled party scenes, hookups, and dance rehearsals.

At one point Jane Adams’ character tells Hari Nef and Dan Levy’s character’s that “that’s sex,” and “That’s what we’re selling.” Levy’s character doesn’t seem so sure.

The Weeknd – real name Abel Makkonen Tesfaye – serves as co-writer and executive producer on the project alongside Euphoria‘s Sam Levinson.

Whereas last time the show was teased as “from the sick and twisted minds of the creator of Euphoria,” this time it’s “from the gutters of Hollywood”.

Sivan has previously told W Magazine of working on the film that he was “having the best time” on set.

“I think because [filming] has been such a long time and it’s been so consistent I feel like, ‘Oh, I could really, really do this,’” he said. “Not even from an ability point of view, just from an enjoyment point of view.”

He continued: “The quality of every single aspect of a production like this is so inspiring to watch. It’s just a crazy experience, it’s been so fun.
