Chris Mears has revealed that he and his diving partner Jack Laugher are planning to move in together.

The pair, who are currently in Glasgow for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, compete together in the men’s 3m springboard synchronised event – and will challenge for a gold medal when the Commonwealth diving programme begins next week.

“I’ve now moved programmes to train with Jack full-time,” Mears told our friends at Sports Mole. “We are the best of friends so it’s absolutely awesome. I think we’re getting a flat together, so it’s pretty good.”

Mears went on to discuss the pair’s chances of winning their first Commonwealth gold medal, saying: “We’re the top-ranked team going into this and we’ve been smashing it up around the world getting medals. It’s still a very big deal [though].”

“I want this so badly and so does Jack,” he continued, “but in the [Diving] World Cup we both wanted it badly too and we ended up fifth, so let’s just hope that we’ve done everything right in our preparation and it works out for us.”

Here at attitude.co.uk, we’re fully on board with this bromance – check out this recent picture of the pair chilling in their hotel room together.

Though Mears and Laugher missed out on a medal in the men’s 3m springboard synchronised event at the diving World Cup earlier this month (July), Laugher picked up a bronze in one of the individual diving events – find out more here.
