Cheyenne Jackson teases potential role in ‘Magic Mike’ Broadway musical

Our body is ready (and, let's be honest, so is his).

Cheyenne Jackson has teased that he may be appearing in a new Magic Mike Broadway musical.

The American Horror Story star has been rumoured to be taking part in the upcoming stage show inspired by the hit Channing Tatum movies since he was pictured at a workshop for the upcoming production earlier this year.

Jackson, 43, is asked whether he’ll be part of the project in the January issue of Attitude – available to download and to order globally now, and remains coy about his involvement.

“I’m not allowed to confirm or deny that”, he smiles, “but yeah.”

Released in 2012, Magic Mike charted the journey of a teenager (Alex Pettyfer) who finds himself wrapped up in the world of stripping after joining a male dance troup lead by ‘Magic’ Mike Lane (Channing Tatum).

A sequel, Magic Mike XXL, followed in 2015, giving fans another opportunity to enjoy the, erm, raw talent on display.

Unlike Channing Tatum’s Magic Mike Live, a professional dance show currently playing in both Las Vegas and London, the Magic Mike Broadway production will take the form of a fictionalised musical prequel based on Channing Tatum’s own real-life stripping experiences.

Cheyenne, who has appearanced in everything from TV’s Glee to 9/11 drama film United 93, is no stranger to Broadway, having made his name in New York productions like 2002’s Thoroughly Modern Millie revival and 2005’s All Shook Up.

Magic Mike will be the Hollywood heartthrob’s first stage role since he appeared in the musical revival of The Secret Garden at New York’s Lincoln Center in 2016.

Of course, we’re just hoping none of the, ahem ‘magic’, of the original films will be lost in the stage translation…
