Check out first picture of Henry Cavill in ‘Batman v Superman’

By Josh Haggis

Warner Brothers have released the first picture of Henry Cavill as Superman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Dawn of Justice will pit the two iconic superheroes against each other for the first time ever on the big screen – and brings the studio one step closer to the long-rumoured superhero ensemble film, Justice League.

Ben Affleck will star opposite Cavill as Batman aka Bruce Wayne, with Jesse Eisenberg playing villain Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons taking on the role of Bruce Wayne’s butler Alfred.

Meanwhile, Man of Steel stars Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne are all returning for the sequel.

“I was in no rush to put Batman in the movie,” director Zack Snyder told USA Today. “But on the other hand it seemed organic the way our story was unfolding to start to feather him in.”

Snyder then said of the film’s title: “Having the ‘v’ instead of ‘vs.’ is a way “to keep it from being a straight ‘versus’ movie, even in the most subtle way.”

Dawn of Justice had been scheduled for release in cinemas on July 17, 2015, but earlier this year, Warner Bros announced they were pushing it back and the film will now arrive around nine months later on May 6, 2016.
