Charlize Theron wants to star in lesbian version of the best Xmas film of all time, Die Hard

"Where do I sign up?"

By Jamie Tabberer

Charlize Theron wants to appear in a 2020 update on the classic Christmas/action movie Die Hard – but swapping out the straight male main character for a lesbian woman.

Our first response? Yippee-ki-yay, motherf*cker!

The original Bruce Willis-starring movie came out in 1990, and follows policeman John McClane and his attempts to save his estranged his wife after she and her colleagues are imprisoned by terrorists inside a high-rise building on Christmas Eve.

“Lesbian Christmas rom coms are all well and good but…”

Getting into the festive spirit, a Charlize fan said on Twitter: “Lesbian Christmas rom coms are all well and good but what I REALLY want is a Die Hard where Charlize Theron goes on a rampage to save her wife.”

(The follower was seemingly referencing Kristen Stewart’s new “gay Christmas” movie The Happiest Season.)

To this, Charlize gamely replied: “Where do I sign?”

Epic.

“Until you have certain experiences you don’t really know who you are”

Speaking to PrideSource last year, Charlize said: “I experimented [with my sexuality], and I did what I think every young person should do: feel brave enough and free enough in order to figure it out.

“It’s not like the stuff is laid out on a piece of paper for us; we have to kind of go through a life, and until you have certain experiences you don’t really know who you are.”

Charlize Theron famously won a Best Actress Oscar for her role in 2003’s Monster, a biographical film about serial killer Aileen Wuornos which explored her relationships with women.
