Channing Tatum announces Magic Mike live shows

By Will Stroude

Well, here it is: The most exciting theatrical announcement since the return of Glenn Close to Sunset Boulevard. Yep, Magic Mike is going live.

Star of the tongue-in-cheek 2012 stripper-fest and last year’s sequel, Magic Mike XXL, Channing Tatum, shared the news in an appropriately man-filled video announcement this morning (May 5), revealing that a live show inspired by the hit films will be arriving at the as Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas next year.

“I woke up this morning, and I was looking around my house filled with hot men that I live with everyday, and I was thinking ‘what’s the next step for Magic Mike?” the 36-year-old says.

Thankfully, it turns out that next step translating the film’s incredible male strip rountines from celluloid to a live stage.

There’s just once catch though.

Magic Mike has been a special and very personal project for me, and this show is a natural extension of that,” says Tatum. “So while I won’t be on stage as Mike, Magic Mike Live Last Vegas is my vision and I’m looking forward to spending a lot of time in Las Vegas creating something that will give women what they really want.”

Erm, what audiences want is you, Mr Tatum, but we suppose the chance of a guest appearance is enough to get us booking those flights.

Meanwhile, if you need some visual reminders of exactly what Magic Mike has to offer, take a look at this handy picture special.

Magic Mike Live will debut at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas in March 2017. Tickets will be available soon.
