Celine Dion has cancelled all her scheduled live shows indefinitely in order to be with her husband during his ongoing illness.

Her 72-year-old husband and former manager René Angélil underwent surgery in December last year to remove a cancerous tumour.

In a post on Dion’s Facebook page she revealed that she will cancel her upcoming Las Vegas residency dates and upcoming tour of Asia to spend more time with him.

“I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband’s healing,” she explained, “and to do so, it’s important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children.”

“I also want to apologise to all my fans everywhere, for inconveniencing them, and I thank them so much for their love and support.”

Dion is herself currently fighting an illness causing her throat muscles to become inflamed, and has not been able to perform at her recent Las Vegas residency dates. Her last performance at the Colosseum was on July 29.
