Britney Spears claims she's never met Taylor Swift

Britney Spears has never been the sort to insert herself into drama, so naturally the pop icon tried her hardest to give a very diplomatic answer when asked if she’d rather sit next to Taylor Swift or Katy Perry in an interview with KIIS 106.5 FM.

The ‘Make Me (Ooh)‘ singer eventually chose Taylor Swift, as she’s already met Katy Perry – apparently princess of pop is always up for making new pals.

“So maybe because I’ve met Katy Perry, I would say Taylor Swift because I’ve never met her before”, she said.

Unfortunately for Brit, she had in fact already met Taylor Swift. Twice. Once, at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, and also way back in 2003, three years before Swift released her eponymous debut album (so we’ll forgive her that one).

In Britney’s defence, Taylor Swift was a relative newbie to the biz back in 2008, so it’s understandable Ms Spears might forget they’d ever met.

Fingers crossed Taylor doesn’t take the mistake to heart, and add Britney to the many, many celebrities she’s currently at war with.
