Blogger reduced to tears by ‘gay or straight’ question

A video of a YouTube blogger asking his followers whether they would choose to be gay or straight has gone viral.

Blogger Chris Thompson, who’s straight and hails from California, made the video after being moved by the recent clip showing a man being kicked out of his home by his family after he told them he was gay. The upsetting coming out video spread rapidly online – and the man has since received over £60,000 in donations from the public.

Thompson’s video, which has received almost a million views, shows him discussing the incident before asking his followers whether they would choose to be gay or straight if they were given the choice.

He then reads out a selection of responses to the question which he has already received. “Nobody would choose to become a second-class citizen and to get death threats and not be accepted by their own family,” read one of them.

Thompson is reduced to tears in the video by some of the heartbreaking responses, and he urges people to educate themselves and be proud of their sexuality. Watch the clip below:
