Channel 5’s reality show Blind Date will feature drag queen contestants for the first time ever this weekend.

The show, hosted by Paul O’Grady, will feature the contestants in a special episode tonight (July 28) which sees criminologist Luke picking one of three drag queens.

According to a synopsis of the episode, however, Luke will be unaware that his three potential dates are drag queens.

Tonight’s episode will feature drag stars Shyanne O’Shea, Trampagne and Anna Phylactic.

Speaking about the episode, O’Grady said: “I’m so happy that we have included drag queens on this series of Blind Date. It’s about time – it is 2018 after all! Having been a drag artiste myself I’m very proud to be part of this Blind Date first!”

Last year, the show,  which sees a single person choosing one of three dates who are hidden behind a screen, made history for featuring its first Lesbian contestant to coincide with Pride in London.

Blind Date was originally presented by Cilla Black during its 1985 to 2003 run on ITV. However, the show was rebooted in 2017 for Channel 5.
