Rapper Azealia Banks has revealed she has been dropped by her record label.

The exact details behind the split between Banks and Interscope Records are unknown, but the rapper has been vocal about her desire to leave the label since last year. Back in March, she threatened to leak her long-delayed debut album Broke With Expensive Taste if the record label failed to give it a firm release date.

The mouthy rapper rose to fame in 2011, when her track 212 created a huge buzz online and later became a top 20 hit in the UK. Later singles ATM JAM and Yung Rapunxel failed to make a similar impact, and her debut album has been subject to numerous delays – and is still yet to be released.

Banks broke the news that she and Interscope are parting ways with a series of tweets yesterday (July 10). Check them out below.

Meanwhile, Banks has recently apologised for using the word “faggot” as a put-down in several public spats – click here for the full story.

To celebrate “the emancipation of Azealia Banks”, listen to her amazing unreleased track Venus below.
