Attitude’s Top 10 singles of 2015
From the resurrection of Justin Bieber as a colossal pop force to the rise of young upstarts like Years & Years and long-awaited return of Adele, it’s been quite the year for pop in 2015. Here’s Attitude’s Top 10 singles of the year…
10) MARK RONSON & BRUNO MARS – UPTOWN FUNK
It’s hard to believe it was on X Factor last Christmas that we first fell in love with ‘Uptown Funk’, courtesy of Fleur East, and in 12 short months, it’s an undeniable modern classic.
9) FIFTH HARMONY – WORTH IT
‘Worth It’ is one of those tracks that translates perfectly from the radio in the day, to the club at night; keeping up the trend of the big bridge and the small chorus.
8) JUSTIN BIEBER – WHAT DO YOU MEAN?
Following his Jack Ü collaboration ‘Where Are Ü Now’, Bieber had us back on the dancefloor with this bouncy club favourite about his trouble with the ladies.
7) ELLIE GOULDING – LOVE ME LIKE YOU DO
The theme song to Fifty Shades of Grey, this was another track in danger of being overplayed, and yet this Max Martin produced effort was too brilliant a piece of pop to dismiss.
6) JESS GLYNNE – HOLD MY HAND
Barely an hour went past this year without ‘Hold My Hand’ playing on the radio, but it never got old. Impossible to avoid, it cemented vocalist Glynne as an artist in her own right.
5) LITTLE MIX – BLACK MAGIC
Reminding us once again that they are proper pop stars, ‘Black Magi’c brought Little Mix back with a bang, with their vocals skills being shown off better than ever before.
4) YEARS AND YEARS – KING
The jewel in the crown of the Years and Years canon, ‘King’ had one of the most memorable choruses of any number one single this year.
3) THE WEEKND – CAN’T FEEL MY FACE
‘Can’t Feel My Face’ was the song of the summer, pulling The Weeknd into the mainstream with a little help from Max Martin. It’s already gone 4x Platinum in the U.S.
2) ADELE – HELLO
Right from the 30 second X Factor teaser, to a launch that almost broke the internet, ‘Hello’ was the music moment of the year, proving that Adele has plenty more to give post-21.
1) JESS GLYNNE – DON’T BE SO HARD ON YOURSELF
Just when we thought we’d had the best of the Jess Glynne album, she came out with this banger. A thumping chorus and a beautiful sentiment: what more do you need?
