Amazon renews ‘Transparent’ for second season

will return for a second season in 2015, Amazon Studios has announced.

The transgender-themed comedy-drama centres on the Pfefferman family as they get to grips with the news that Mort, the family’s husband and father, is transitioning into a woman named Maura.

Created by Jill Soloway, whose previous credits include writing for Six Feet Under, Transparent stars Arrested Development‘s Jeffrey Tambor as Maura and boasts a supporting cast that includes Girls actress Gaby Hoffman, Portlandia star Carrie Brownstein and Parks and Recreation’s Kathryn Hahn.

Series one received considerable critical acclaim and has ranked as the Number One show on Amazon Prime’s Instant video service since it premiered in full at the end of last month (September 26).
