Adele Roberts on importance of the culture press: ‘It helps new artists come through’
Star chatted to Attitude at the launch of its sibling title Rolling Stone UK last night

Adele Roberts has spoken of the importance of the culture press in spotlighting and diversifying voices.
The BBC radio star, who regularly uplifts new talent on her shows, was speaking to Attitude at a party to celebrate the first issue of Rolling Stone UK last night.
The new print and digital brand is the new sibling publication of Attitude.
“Reclaim the story”
“[It’s a chance] to reclaim the story,” Adele said of magazines like Rolling Stone UK and Attitude. “It helps new artists come through.
Adele, who DJ’d at the party, added: “There needs to be more representation.

“Lizzo is playng right now, and we need to see women of all shapes and sizes, ethnicities, sexualities – we need to see women at the forefront.”
Asked about albums she’s currently enjoying, the 42-year-old pointed to Lil Nas X’s recent debut LP ‘Montero’.
“I love Lil Nas X. I feel like, and I’ll be honest, when he first came out, I didn’t know if he’d be a one hit wonder. So I’m so happy that he’s absolutely slaying it. On every song he brings something new.”
TV star Tom Allen also spoke to Attitude at the party – attended by the likes of Bastille and Self Esteem – and praised Lil Nas.
“[He’s] my favourite artist this year,” said the 38-year-old of the ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name) singer. “I think he’s a brilliant, exuberant voice.”
On Wednesday next week (6 November 2021), Allen will be presenting the Virgin Atlantic Attitude Awards, powered by Jaguar.
